This week the Flashnotes.com team reached out to Penn State Campus COO Amanda Vonder Schmalz.

Amanda is a current sophomore with 64 sales to date and majoring in Supply Chain Management.

How did you find out about Flashnotes.com and what classes are you selling stuff for?

AVS: One of my friends had a roommate who posted notes on Flashnotes.com for a semester and was asked to find someone to manage a Flashnotes.com team at Penn State. She put out a post asking if anyone was interested, and I jumped right on it. What broke college student doesn’t want to be paid to take notes and get some management experience?

Currently I sell notes for ECON 102, ECON 304, MGMT 301, PSYCH 100, MKTG 301, and SCM 301.

What’s your favorite part of Flashnotes.com?

AVS: My favorite part of Flashnotes.com is that even though it is technically my “job”, it doesn’t interfere with my schoolwork – it IS my schoolwork! It’s great to finally find a job that is 110% based around succeeding in my classes. This kind of work is something that every college student deserves to be a part of.

What do you like to do in your free time?

AVS: In my free time, I like to spend time with my friends and relax. This semester is so busy, it’s nice to just go home and hang out.

What is one thing you would do to make Flashnotes.com better?

AVS: Bringing a Flashnotes.com office to Penn State’s campus would be awesome. It would be a great place to hold one-on-one or group tutoring sessions. It would also be a convenient place for the Flashnotes.com team at Penn State to store merchandise and hold meetings and information sessions.

What did you use your first Flashnotes.com check for? i.e. apparel, a trip, etc.

AVS: I’ve been making great money as a note-taker for Flashnotes.com and decided to save everything up for a vacation this summer. I haven’t ever been off of the east coast, so it’s something I’ve been interested in doing for years now. Thanks to Flashnotes.com, I can finally make that happen!

How do you promote your notes and make your sales?

AVS: Since I started freshmen year at Penn State, I’ve always been in the habit of making study guides for all of my classes. People started asking to use them and I was more than willing to help them out. I got some great feedback from my friends and they always asked for help in the future. So going into Flashnotes.com, I had a decent group of people that knew my content was reliable. Having that group was huge once I started selling because I had people that were not only willing to pay for my work, but also vouched for me to their friends. Now, I e-mail my classes about a week in advance letting them know I’m making a guide and then e-mail them again when it’s finished. I provide the current promotional codes and also offer any help that I can as far as clarifying concepts and the content! I want students to know that they aren’t only purchasing my notes, but they are also being offered help when they study if they need it.
