How to Make a Paper Longer

Writing a paper can be gruesome at times, especially when you find yourself disinterested in the topic. If you’re trying to lengthen your paper, skip the easy stuff and just focus on creating more content for your paper.

Check out some tips we came up with that can help you make your paper, longer.

Support your examples with additional quotations. If backbone of your paper is good, chances are you have examples to support your thesis. To enhance your paper and potentially make it longer, make sure you have at least one quotation, if not more, to support your examples. Remember to cite your quotations.

Add more examples. If you find that you have reached a limit on quotation, add more examples.

Think about the arguments against your thesis. Be sure to address this points in your paper. When mentioning this potential arguments, state how you would defend your argument in the paper.

Make sure each paragraph has a topic sentence, supporting evidence, and a concluding/transition sentence. With that, make sure you have covered the basics when it comes to constructing a paragraph, i.e, you have more than 3 sentences.

Make you have a intro, thesis statement, and conclusion. Make sure your paper starts with a bang and has a solid foundation to stand on, aka your thesis. Also make sure you’ve left your reader with all potential questions, answered by the end of your conclusion.
